Holiday Season Festivities

 December 9, 2021

As the holiday season approaches, the Green Township Fire Department would like to take the time to provide some updates on upcoming holiday appearances and events.

Christmas Tree Lighting

The Green Township Fire Department will be assisting Green Township with their Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Sunday, December 5th starting at 4:30 PM.  As we hope there will be no snow on the ground by then, the fire department will be assisting Santa with transportation to this fun family event.

Annual Santa Breakfast

IT'S BACK!!!

On Sunday, December 12th, the Green Township Fire Department will be holding it's annual Breakfast with Santa.  Breakfast will start at 8 AM going all the way to 12 noon, with appearance by Santa throughout the morning.  Stop in and get your picture with Santa.  As always, there is no cost for the breakfast, as this event is our thanks to you for your support throughout the year.  We will be having a toy drop box for where you can donate a new unwrapped toy towards Project Self-Sufficiency's Season of Hope.  See the flyer if you would like more information about Project Self-Sufficiency's Season of Hope event.

Santa on the Fire Trucks

We will continue our annual holiday traditions by escorting Santa around town on the firetrucks on Saturday, December 18th starting @ 9am.  As the date approaches, we will put out more info on this website and social media, but as always, please listen for the sirens and holiday music if you want to see Santa.

On behalf of the members of the Green Township Fire Department, we would like to wish everyone and their families a very safe and happy holiday season!

𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐓😎

A wave of heat is headed our way with indices expected to rise to near 100. Here is what you need to know to be prepared!

Know how to recognize the signs of heat-related illness and how to respond to it.

📌HEAT CRAMPS
• Signs: Muscle pains or spasms in the stomach, arms or legs
• Actions: Go to a cooler location. Remove excess clothing. Take sips of cool sports drinks with salt and sugar. Get medical help if cramps last more than an hour.

📌HEAT EXHAUSTION
• Signs: Heavy sweating, paleness, muscle cramps, tiredness, weakness, dizziness, headache, fainting, nausea, vomiting
• Actions: Go to an air-conditioned place and lie down. Loosen or remove clothing. Take a cool bath. Take sips of cool sports drinks with salt and sugar. Get medical help if symptoms get worse or last more than an hour.

📌HEAT STROKE
• Signs:
o Extremely high body temperature (above 103 degrees) taken orally
o Red, hot and dry skin with no sweat
o Rapid, strong pulse
o Dizziness, confusion or unconsciousness
• Actions: Call 9-1-1 or get the person to a hospital immediately.
Cool down with whatever methods are available until medical help arrives.

✅Safety Tips
❄️Find places with air conditioning. Libraries, shopping malls, and community centers can provide a cool place to take a break from the heat. Visit nj211.org or dial 2-1-1 to find a cooling center near you.
👍Be a good neighbor. Check on those vulnerable to the heat including the elderly, children and family pets.
⚾️Be mindful when planning outdoor activities. Take frequent breaks and stay hydrated.
🚗Reminder: The inside of cars gets hot quickly, and much more intensely than outside. NEVER leave kids or pets inside a locked vehicle!
